Understanding Mullineux, Syrah Granite, Swartland, Coastal Region
The vineyards for this Syrah are farmed organically and biodynamically. They’re located in areas where the soil is predominantly granite-based, contributing significantly to the flavour profile and structure of the wine. These soils, combined with the warm, dry climate of Swartland, result in Syrah grapes that are concentrated in flavour with a distinct minerality and refined tannins. The wine undergoes fermentation with natural yeasts and is aged in French oak for 14 months which adds layers of complexity while respecting the wine’s varietal character. Granite Syrah displays rich, dark fruit complemented by notes of spice, floral undertones and a distinctive minerality. The palate is marked by its elegance and structure, with well-integrated tannins that suggest excellent ageing potential.
