Understanding Felton Road, Bannockburn Pinot Noir, Central Otago, Central Otago
The vineyards of Felton Road in Bannockburn are carefully tended under a regime of organic and biodynamic practices. The region's semi-continental climate, featuring hot summers and cool nights, along with its sandy loam and gravel soils, provides an ideal setting for cultivating Pinot Noir. Grapes are hand-picked, part destemmed for fruit and tannin control and undergo extended maceration on skins to tease out flavour richness. It’s fermented with natural yeasts and aged in French oak for 13 months. This wine is bottled without fining or filtration to encourage complex terroir and varietal expression. Bannockburn Pinot Noir features ripe red fruit, hints of spice, herb and a touch of earthiness on a layered palate supported by a backbone of fine tannins. This wine has excellent cellaring capacity.
