Understanding Domaine du Clos des Fees, La Petite Siberie, Cotes du Roussillon-Villages, Roussillon
La Petite Sibérie' is crafted predominantly from old-vine Grenache, with a blend that may include other local varietals. The vineyard, subject to both scorching sun and icy winds, yields grapes with exceptional concentration and character. The diverse soils, rich in schist and clay-limestone, add to the wine's complexity. The grapes are harvested manually, ensuring that only the highest quality fruit is selected. Domaine du Clos des Fées employs a winemaking approach that respects the integrity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. This involves careful fermentation with gentle colour and flavour extraction methods and ageing in new oak on lees without sulphur, allowing for the development of the wine's intricate profile. ‘La Petite Sibérie' features dark fruit, nuances of herbs, spices and a distinct minerality in a powerful and elegant palate with well-integrated tannins. This wine has considerable ageing potential.
