Understanding Pierre Gonon, Saint-Joseph, Oliviers Blanc, Rhone
Saint-Joseph Blanc Les Oliviers comes from a two-hectare plot that’s regarded as one of the finest in the appellation for white grapes. Pierre Gonon carefully tends the vines, harnessing the unique qualities of the terroir to reflect the characteristics of Saint Joseph. Grapes are hand-harvested to ensure optimal ripeness and carefully sorted before undergoing a gentle press. Fermentation takes place in large casks, allowing the wine to develop complexity while preserving its freshness. Maturation occurs for 11 months in a combination of barriques and larger barrels, a stage that adds complexity, texture and depth. This wine features white florals, citrus blossom, pear, almond and stone fruit on a crisp and refreshing palate with vibrant minerality. Pierre Gonon Saint-Joseph Oliviers Blanc has considerable ageing capacity.
