Understanding Paul Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage, La Chapelle Blanc, Rhone
The grapes for La Chapelle Blanc are sourced from the lieu-dit Maison Blanche, located at the top of the Hermitage Hill. The Marsanne and Roussanne vines benefit from stony, silty soils, optimal sun exposure and unique microclimate. Grapes are handpicked and meticulously sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used. Fermentation occurs in concrete eggs, shaped to promote full, rounded vinification as well as part-new oak barrels. The wine ages in the same containers on fine lees, a stage that adds texture and flavour complexity. Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle Blanc displays rich stone fruit, florals and toasted almond in a full-bodied, creamy, elegant palate with balancing acidity. The wine's structure and richness make it ideal for cellaring.
