Understanding Ferraton Pere & Fils, Hermitage, Le Meal, Rhone
The Le Méal vineyard boasts mature Syrah vines planted in pebble- and mineral-rich soils, which contribute to the grapes' intense flavours and complexity. The winemaking process sees grape bunch destemming for control over flavour and tannin balance and extended maceration in concrete to tease out fruit intensity and colour. The wine is aged in 30- to 50% new oak for up to 14- to 18 months depending on the vintage. This stage develops layered complexity. Ferraton Père et Fils Ermitage Le Méal features dark fruit, spice and earthy nuance. The wine's structure is robust yet elegant, with smooth tannins, making it an excellent candidate for further development in the cellar.
