Understanding Ferraton Pere & Fils, Hermitage, Le Reverdy, Rhone
The vineyards for Ermitage Blanc Reverdy feature limestone, alluvial and pebble soils. These conditions yield grapes with a profound depth of flavour and a distinct minerality. Fermentation takes place in 30% new oak which is followed by softening, rounding malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on fine lees in oak barrels for ten to 13 months. This stage adds rich texture and complexity. Ermitage Blanc Reverdy displays ripe orchard fruit, honey and a hint of spice. The wine is characterised by its full body, creamy texture and a balancing acidity that concludes with a long, elegant finish. It is a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth and holds the potential for significant development with cellaring.
