Understanding Delas, Hermitage, Domaine des Tourettes Blanc, Rhone

The fruit for Marquise de la Tourette Blanc is sourced from three plots on the famous Hermitage Hill, known for its varied soils. Nourishing clay is particularly beneficial for the traditional local white varietals and a south-facing aspect ensures full ripening. In the winemaking process, fermentation takes place in a combination of new and old oak on lees for enhanced texture and complexity. This is followed by malolactic fermentation to add a creamy texture. Depending on the vintage, to retain the wine’s freshness, this step is sometimes carried out only partially. Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette Blanc displays candied citrus fruit, floral notes, vanilla and toasted brioche on a powerful, opulent palate. Lively acidity and good minerality add to a long, aromatic finish. This white can be enjoyed young but also has the capacity for about a decade of cellaring.
