Understanding Pierre Gaillard, Cote Rotie, Esprit Blonde, Rhone
Esprit de Blonde is sourced from the Côte Blonde area of Côte Rôtie, where the vineyards feature lighter, sandy soils and a unique microclimate. Vines dating from the 1950s, yield top-tier, concentrated berries that contribute to the finesse and aromatic intensity of the wine. In classic Northern Rhône fashion, a small portion of Viognier is also used to add fragrance. Grapes are fully destemmed for balance before undergoing a meticulous vinification process that carefully teases out flavours and tannins. The wine ages in 100% new French oak for 18 months, developing complexity. Esprit de Blonde displays ripe red fruit, violet and spice in a harmonious palate with fine tannins. Esprit de Blonde's structure and nuanced flavors make it an excellent candidate for ageing.
