Understanding Paul Jaboulet Aine, Cote Rotie, Les Jumelles, Rhone
"Les Jumelles" benefits from the unique terroir of Côte Rôtie, characterised by steep, terraced vineyards with a mix of schist and granite soils. This challenging terrain, along with the region's microclimate, is ideal for cultivating Syrah vines that produce grapes of intense flavour and depth. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and sorted to ensure the highest quality. Fruit is destemmed for fruit and tannin balance and undergoes temperature-controlled vinification over four weeks, allowing finessed flavour and colour extraction. This is followed by maturation in 20%-new French oak barrels, deepening complexity. "Les Jumelles" displays ripe dark berry, black pepper and floral hints, courtesy of the Viognier, in a full-bodied, elegant palate with a silky texture. This wine boasts considerable ageing potential.
