Understanding E. Guigal, Cote Rotie, Brune Et Blonde, Rhone
Brune et Blonde is a blend of grapes from both the 'Brune' (characterised by iron-rich, dark soils) and 'Blonde' (lighter, sandy soils) areas of Côte-Rôtie. This unique combination of terroirs contributes to the complex character of the wine, with the old Syrah vines providing depth and intensity. Fermentation takes place on closed, temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity and features extended maceration to tease out richness. The wine is then aged in oak for 26 months, 50% of which is new. This stage adds subtle complexity to the wine. Brune et Blonde presents ripe red and black fruit, spice notes and gentle florals in a well-structured palate with silky tannins, offering the potential for graceful ageing.
