Understanding Domaine Georges Vernay, Cote Rotie, Blonde du Seigneur, Rhone
Fruit for Blonde du Seigneur is selected from the Domaine's prime steep, terraced vineyards featuring rich, schist soils. The inclusion of a small percentage of Viognier in the blend is a traditional practice in Côte-Rôtie, adding aromatic complexity to the wine. The vineyards are managed through sustainable viticulture, ensuring vine health and grape quality. The Syrah and Viognier grapes are co-fermented, a method that enhances the integration of flavours and aromas. Ageing takes place in French oak, adding depth and nuance without overpowering elegant fruit flavours. Côte-Rôtie Blonde du Seigneur displays ripe red fruit, florals, black pepper and spice. The palate has smooth tannins and a vibrant acidity, culminating in a finessed, persistent finish. This wine is suitable for up to 15 years of cellaring.
