The Grandes Places vineyards are characterised by their steep slopes and a unique soil composition of schist and iron oxide, promoting a distinct minerality and complexity in the fruit. The old Syrah vines, deeply rooted in this challenging yet rewarding terrain, yield fruit that is intensely flavoured and rich in tannins. The combination of the vineyard's southeast-facing suntrap aspect and the region's climate ensures optimal ripening conditions, essential for producing a wine of this calibre. The estate approaches Côte-Rôtie Grandes Places with traditional and modern winemaking methods. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo rigorous selection before fermentation with natural yeasts. Ageing occurs for two years in oak, a portion of which is new, that enhances the wine's bold profile without overpowering its fruity richness. Côte-Rôtie Grandes Places displays dark fruit, earthy undertones, hints of spice and floral notes framed with firm tannins and lively acidity. The wine's robust structure and depth make it excellent for extended cellaring.
