Understanding Christophe Semaska, Cote Rotie, Fleur Montlys, Rhone

The Fleur de Montlys is a predominantly Syrah blend, with a small percentage of Viognier, in line with the classic Côte Rotie style. The grapes are grown on acclaimed steep, terraced vineyards, where the granite soils contribute significantly to the wine's aromatic intensity and mineral character. The fruit is meticulously hand-harvested just as the grapes approach over-ripeness and are vinified for three weeks in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve fruit purity and richness. Maturation takes place in new oak barrels over 30 months, a step that adds layers of complexity. Fleur de Montlys displays dark fruit, floral notes courtesy of the Viognier and a subtle hint of spice in a finessed, powerful palate with silky tannins all closing in an enduring finish. The wine's depth and structured elegance make it an excellent candidate for long-term cellaring.
