Understanding Lucien & Andre Brunel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Les Cailloux Cuvee Centenaire, Rhone
Cuvée Centenaire is derived from exceptionally old Grenache vines, some planted as long ago as 1889, grown in the estate's prime parcels. These ancient vines, deeply rooted in the region's characteristic stony and sandy soils, yield grapes of extraordinary concentration and character. The fermentation is conducted in a traditional manner, with an emphasis on extracting the rich, full-bodied flavours inherent in old-vine Grenache. Ageing occurs in large oak casks for 24 months, a stage that enhances the wine's complexity without overshadowing its natural elegance. Les Cailloux Cuvée Centenaire displays ripe red fruit, garrigue and spice, underlined by a refined minerality in a robust and graceful palate marked by velvety tannins. This wine has considerable cellaring capacity.
