Understanding Domaine Paul Autard, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Juline, Rhone
The vineyards of Domaine Paul Autard are situated in an area blessed with diverse soils, including the famed Galets Roulés, which contribute to the intensity and complexity of the grapes. Grape bunches are carefully harvested and destemmed to prevent astringency masking the fruit profile. Grapes are sorted to ensure only the highest quality are vinified and macerated for 20 to 30 days to tease out rich fruit depth and structure. Following fermentation, wine is aged in new oak for 20 months, a step that develops complexity. Juline displays ripe dark fruit, hints of liquorice, spice and a touch of earthiness. The texture is luxuriously smooth, with well-integrated tannins and a persistent finish. This wine not only captures the essence of its varietals and terroir but also the passion and dedication of the Autard family.
