Understanding Domaine de Marcoux, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vieilles Vignes, Rhone
This esteemed wine is predominantly Grenache, complemented by other traditional Rhône varieties. The old vines are deeply rooted in the estate's diverse soils, including the iconic Galets Roulés, and impart a unique concentration and intensity to the grapes. Domaine de Marcoux adheres to organic and biodynamic farming practices. Grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring only the highest quality fruit is selected. Winemaking is approached with a philosophy of minimal intervention, using natural yeasts for fermentation and ageing the wine in a mix of large oak foudres for 18 months. This approach promotes terroir and vintage expression. Marcoux Vieilles Vignes displays red and black fruit underpinned by herb and spice hints and a subtle earthiness on a powerful, elegant palate with velvety tannins and vibrant acidity. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée has excellent cellaring potential.
