Les Hauts-Lieux is predominantly composed of Grenache, accompanied by Syrah, Mourvèdre and other traditional Rhône varietals. The grapes are sourced from the higher altitude vineyards of Domaine de la Vieille Julienne, where cooler temperatures and diverse soil types, including limestone and clay, contribute to the elegance and minerality of the wine. The winemaking approach is characterised by a minimalist intervention philosophy. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a stringent selection process. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts, and the wine is aged for 18 months in large foudres to ensure the nuances of the terroir are beautifully expressed. Les Hauts-Lieux displays red fruit, floral notes and hints of earth and spices in a powerful, graceful, silky palate supported by a solid tannic backbone and a vibrant acidity. Les Hauts-Lieux holds great potential for ageing and evolution.
