The vines for this cuvée grow in a variety of soils, including the heat-retentive Galets Roulés, clay and sandy loam. The vine age allows for deep extraction of flavours and nuances from the soil, resulting in a wine with concentrated fruit, depth and minerality. The Mediterranean climate of the region ensures optimal ripening and grape flavour development. Fruit is handpicked and undergoes rigorous sorting. Fermentation is carried out in a mix of concrete tanks and wooden vats. Ageing occurs in a variety of oak barrels to achieve harmonious integration of flavours and textures. The wine exhibits dark fruit with liquorice, spice and earthy hints. The palate is robust and marked by velvety tannins and a persistent finish. Domaine de la Janasse's Vieilles Vignes has a considerable capacity for ageing.
