Understanding Domaine de la Janasse, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Prestige, Rhone
The Blanc Prestige vineyards are characterised by diverse soil types, including sandy clay and the region's distinctive Galets Roulés. These varied soils, combined with the warm Mediterranean climate, contribute to the wine's nuance and depth. Grapes are hand-harvested in the morning to ensure flavour freshness. The varietals are fermented separately to retain their fruit purity and terroir expression. Malolactic fermentation follows to add roundness. Maturation occurs in new and old oak for 14 months. Blanc Prestige displays ripe stone fruit, white florals and hints of honey and spice. The wine is well-structured, with a rich, creamy texture balanced by a refreshing acidity and a lingering, elegant finish. This white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, while delightful in its youth, also demonstrates impressive ageing potential.
