Understanding Clos Saint Jean, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Deus ex Machina, Rhone
The fruit for Deus-Ex Machina is sourced from some of the oldest and most esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Distinct terroir, featuring large round, heat-retentive stones and clay soils, contributes to the intensity and structure of the wine. Before blending, the Grenache is typically aged in large vats while the Mourvèdre matures in smaller oak barrels. This teases out the individuality of each varietal and contributes to the wine's layered complexity. A philosophy of minimal intervention in the winemaking process allows the wine to express the full spectrum of its terroir and varietal character. Deus-Ex Machina displays dark fruit, earthy spice, leather notes and truffle. Opulent and finessed with well-integrated tannins, this wine promises exceptional ageing potential, revealing new dimensions of flavour and aroma over time.
