Understanding Clos du Mont-Olivet, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Papet, Rhone
"Papet" is primarily composed of old vine Grenache with smaller quantities of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Grapes come from the estate's oldest plots, ensuring the finest quality. Vines benefit from the region's nourishing clay, sandy soils and characteristic large, heat-retaining stone known as Galets Roulés that promote ripening. In the winery, grapes see careful sorting followed by fermentation aimed at teasing out varietal and terroir characteristics. Ageing occurs in a mix of large and smaller oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop complexity without losing its fruit purity. A classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this wine boasts rich, layered dark fruit, herb and spice, underpinned by earthy, leather notes. Robust structure lifted by silky tannins concludes in a lingering finish. This wine has excellent ageing potential.
