Understanding Clos des Papes, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Blanc, Rhone
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is crafted from a blend of classic white Rhône varietals. The main grapes are Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Clairette and Picpoul. Each adds its unique characteristics for a harmonious and layered tasting experience. The region's diverse soils and warm climate promote fruit intensity. A blend of winemaking tradition and modern innovation is typical across Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Fruit is mostly hand-picked and carefully sorted to ensure only the finest is vinified. Depending on the desired wine profile, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, concrete vats or oak barrels. Maturation takes place in a mix of oak and steel. This further refines flavours and adds delicate woody notes while maintaining fruity power. The result is a full-bodied, balanced wine with a creamy, complex bouquet of ripe stone fruit, white florals, spicy hints and rich minerality. This wine is vibrant in its youth, yet also has remarkable cellaring potential.
