Understanding Domaine Tempier, Migoua, Bandol, Provence
The Migoua vineyard is predominantly planted with Mourvèdre, harmoniously blended with Grenache, Cinsault and a touch of Syrah. The average age of the vines is 40 years. They benefit from the vineyard's varied soil composition, characterised by rock and limestone and its distinctive microclimate. These factors culminate in grapes that are rich in flavour, with a perfect balance of ripeness and acidity. Harvesting is conducted meticulously by hand, ensuring that only the best grapes are selected. Destemmed fruit ferments with natural yeasts in concrete tanks to tease out fruit depth. The wine is aged in large oak casks for 18 months, a method that enhances its complexity while preserving the fruit's natural essence. Domaine Tempier Bandol Migoua displays dark fruit, spice, garrigue and subtle earthiness in a robust and refined palate marked by velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity. This wine's structure and depth make it an excellent candidate for ageing.
