Understanding Domaine Huet, Vouvray, Moelleux Premiere Trie Haut Lieu, Loire
Le Haut-Lieu, one of Domaine Huet's iconic vineyards, features a rich mix of clay and limestone which contribute to the minerality and depth of the Chenin Blanc grapes. The vineyard's microclimate, with its balance of sunshine and cool temperatures, plays a crucial role in developing the grapes' balance. The domaine practices organic and biodynamic viticulture. The carefully selected grapes display some botrytis which concentrates flavours. Fruit undergoes gentle pressing, followed by fermentation with natural yeasts. This process is stopped part way through to leave higher sugar levels. The wine sees extended maturation in oak which imparts finessed complexity. Huet Vouvray Moelleux Première Trie Le Haut-Lieu exhibits ripe orchard fruit, florals and honey in a lusciously sweet palate perfectly balanced by lively acidity and subtle minerality. This Moelleux wine is renowned for its cellaring potential.
