Understanding Mas Jullien, Terrasses du Larzac, Languedoc
This exquisite wine is a blend of local grape varieties, primarily Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The vineyards, benefiting from the diverse soils and the cool climate of the Terrasses du Larzac, impart a unique character to the grapes. The organic vineyard management practices, manual ploughing and careful canopy control respect the natural rhythm of the vines. Fruit is hand-harvested and sorted. Fermentation takes place in a combination of concrete tanks and oak barrels to promote fruit richness and structural balance. The wine is aged in differently-sized oak barrels to enhance complexity without overpowering the inherent qualities of the fruit. To promote vintage and terroir expression, the wine isn’t filtered or fined before bottling. Mas Jullien's Coteaux du Languedoc Terrasses du Larzac features dark fruit, spice and earthy undertones in a powerful, elegant palate with well-structured tannins and balanced acidity. This wine has excellent ageing potential.
