Understanding La Negly, Clos des Truffiers, Languedoc, Languedoc
Clos des Truffiers is primarily made from Syrah, with a complement of Grenache, harvested from the Château's most prized vineyard parcels. These vineyards are characterised by the Mediterranean climate and rugged, stony terrain, with a significant presence of limestone, influencing the depth and complexity of the grapes. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested to ensure the selection of the finest bunches. The winemaking process is carried out with precision and care, involving grape cluster destemming, controlled fermentation and extended maceration to extract balanced flavours and tannins. Ageing in new French oak barrels for 24 months imparts structure and adds layers of spice and vanilla nuances to the wine. Château La Négly Clos des Truffiers displays dark cherry, blackberry and hints of earthy truffle complemented by spicy and smoky undertones in a robust yet refined palate with silky tannins. This wine boasts a remarkable capacity to age.
