An introduction to Louis Latour, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru, Les Petits Monts, Burgundy
Les Petits Monts is a Premier Cru vineyard situated in the Vosne-Romanée appellation in the Côte de Nuits in eastern France’s acclaimed Burgundy wine region. One of the most elevated vineyards in the area with iron-rich soil and steep sun-trap slopes, Les Petits Monts covers 3.6 hectares and is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. It is directly adjacent to the esteemed Grand Cru Richebourg vineyard and some of this Premier Cru’s wines are occasionally even compared to those of its neighbour. Classic Les Petits Monts Burgundy is balanced with good ageing potential. The Domaine Louis Latour Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts displays delicate cherry, clove and mocha with hints of grilled almond in a fresh silky mouth with a brush of liquorice. This Premier Cru is suitable for ten to 12 years of cellaring.

Understanding Louis Latour, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru, Les Petits Monts, Burgundy
The domaine farms its Pinot Noir vines in Les Petits Monts with sustainable viticulture methods on clay soils rich in iron. The east-facing orientation is favourable for gentle, steady grape ripening for finessed, balanced wines. Fruit is carefully harvested by hand in a meticulous process that ensures only the finest fruit is vinified. In the winery, this top-tier Pinot Noir undergoes fermentation in traditional open oak vats followed by complete malolactic fermentation for a creamy, soft mouthfeel. It is aged in 40% new, medium-toasted oak barrels for ten to 12 months to allow components to deepen for greater complexity.
