Spanning 11.4 hectares, Les Beaumonts is one of the largest Premier Cru climats in the acclaimed Vosne-Romanée appellation, situated in the renowned Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy in eastern France. The vineyard is planted entirely with Burgundy’s signature red grape variety, Pinot Noir. Its lower end is hemmed by Grand Cru level plots that are part of the Grand Cru-classified Echezeaux vineyard. The Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts displays generous red fruit in a satiny, balanced wine with elegant, ripe tannins. Old vines give this Premier Cru more power and minerality than typical for Burgundy from this site. This red is the recipient of high scores from eminent wine critics. Tim Atkins MW awarded the 2011 and 2014 vintages 95-points, while Jasper Morris MW gave the 2015 vintage a score of 96-points. Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat produces about 1,900 bottles of this wine annually.

The domaine tends about one-third of a hectare across two east-facing Pinot Noir parcels in Les Beaumonts, with vines boasting sixty years of age. The aspect, vine age and rich limestone of the relatively steep slopes of this reputed vineyard result in a stand-out Premier Cru from Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat. The harvesting process is selective, as the fruit is handpicked and sorted. 80% of the grapes that go into this wine are destemmed to achieve judiciously crafted tannic structure. The Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts Premier Cru is fermented with ambient yeast, adding to its distinct character, which is further enhanced with the winery’s practice of no clarification and filtering. This Burgundy is matured for 16 months in 50% new oak barrels for spicy depth and structure. Burghound has described this red as an ‘exercise in finesse and punch’.
