An acclaimed Village-level Burgundy, Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée is produced from a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from the prestigious namesake. One of Burgundy’s vineyard jewels, the 150-hectare Vosne-Romanée site is home to several tiers of wines. Originally known simply as ‘Vosne’, in 1866 the village took the suffix ‘Romanée’ to honour its acclaimed vineyard, La Romanée. Vosne-Romanée is planted entirely with Pinot Noir. The vibrant Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée has a core of complex black fruit, game and forest floor, and smooth tannis. Around 5,000 bottles of the Hudelot-Noëllat label are produced annually.

The Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée is made from grapes cultivated in two east-facing lieux-dits, Basses Maizières and Les Vigneux, covering a total of just over three-quarters of a hectare. These east-facing parcels are situated toward the top of a gentle slope adjacent to Premier Cru sites. They feature the limestone and clay soils in which Pinot Noir thrives. Fruit is carefully handpicked and sorted before de-stemming for more control of the tannic structure of the wine. This Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée undergoes fermentation with ambient yeast providing a distinct character for each vintage as well as judicious punching down for gentle extraction. Spice and structure come from ageing for 16 months in oak barrels (20% new oak). This vibrant Vosne-Romanée is not filtered, further adding a unique character to its profile. Wine critic John Gilman has described Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée as ‘a fine example of its level’.
