Maison Louis Latour, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, La Truffiere, Burgundy
An introduction to Maison Louis Latour, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, La Truffiere, Burgundy
La Truffière is a vineyard located in Puligny-Montrachet in the legendary Burgundy wine region in eastern France. This Premier Cru vineyard is planted entirely with Chardonnay. This site is located up to 320 metres above sea level, above the majority of Puligny-Montrachet's most celebrated vineyards. Its slopes expose it to steady sunshine for rounded fruit while cooling altitudes and nights retain grape acidity for finessed wines. Before being turned over to vineland, La Truffière was a wooded site rich with truffles, a feature that gave it its present name. Wines from La Truffière display signature minerality and freshness. The Domaine Louis Latour Puligny-Montrachet La Truffière boasts rich power yet finesse in a palate packed with ripe exotic fruit with buttery notes that balance fresh acidity. This White Burgundy is ideal for five to seven years of laying down.

Understanding Maison Louis Latour, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, La Truffiere, Burgundy
The domaine practices sustainable viticulture on its Chardonnay vines in La Truffière. Well-draining pebbly marl, limestone and scree results in low-yield, high-quality grapes. Fruit is carefully harvested by hand in a highly-selective process that ensures only the finest grapes are vinified. In the winery, this Premier Cru sees traditional fermentation in oak followed by complete malolactic fermentation for a creamy, soft mouthfeel. It is aged in 50% new, medium-toasted oak barrels from the Louis Latour in-house cooperage for eight to ten months to allow components to deepen for greater complexity.
