The Nuits-Saint-Georges Village level bottling by Domaine des Perdrix is sourced from 1.2 hectares of Pinot Noir vines planted in the climat of Aux Barrieres and Au Bas de Combe at the northern edge of the Nuits-Saint-George commune, bordering Vosne-Romanée. The south easterly exposure of the site promotes consistent ripeness and phenolic accumulation, and the situation of the climats bordering Premier Cru Vosne-Romanée appellations (Les Chaumes and Aux Malconsorts) supports a palate profile that merges characteristics of both communes. The wine has great vibrancy for a Village level wine, combining the dark fruitiness of a Nuits-Saint-Georges with some of the depth and elegance of a top Vosne-Romanée.

Understanding Domaine des Perdrix, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Rouge, Burgundy
The vines that comprise the Nuits-Saint-Georges Village wine by Domaine des Perdrix were planted between 1937 and 1944 and are sustainably farmed and hand-harvested. After picking, the grapes are meticulously sorted by hand prior to destemming and fermentation with indigenous yeast in old oak vats. Fermentation takes place for approximately three weeks and extraction is managed with manual pigeage. After pressing, the wine is matured in French oak barrels, of which 30% are new, for a period of 15 months. This is a classy wine for a Village appellation, with assertive fruit profile and elegant palate that punches well above its label.
