This Village level Nuits-Saint-Georges by Benjamin Leroux is sourced from a 0.5-hectare plot of Pinot Noir vines in the Les Allots vineyard, situated just to the north of the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The easterly aspect of the vineyard and gravelly, limestone rich soils yield grapes of consistent ripeness and assertive fruit flavour. Understanding Benjamin Leroux, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Aux Allots, Burgundy
The vines that comprise Benjamin Leroux’s parcel in the Les Allots vineyard were planted in 1965 and are sustainably farmed and managed by his growers. The grapes are hand-picked and destemmed into vats, where fermentation occurs with native yeasts for approximately 15 days. The wine is racked to large oak barrels (300L compared to the standard Burgundian 225L) of which 20% are new, and élevage is conducted for 16 months. The result is a classy interpretation of Village-level Nuits-Saint-Georges, offering pleasurable drinking after mid-term cellaring.
