Domaine Fourrier, Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru, Clos Sorbe Vieille Vigne, Burgundy
An introduction to Domaine Fourrier, Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru, Clos Sorbe Vieille Vigne, Burgundy
Clos Sorbe is a Premier Cru climat located on the southeastern edge of Morey-Saint-Denis in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. Similar to most of the vineyards in this part of Morey-Saint-Denis, it is planted exclusively of Pinot Noir, leading to the production of a soft, generous wine that nonetheless lacks some of the nuance and refinement of the appellation's Grand Cru wines. The soils here are white and marly, with good drainage leading to deeper rooting, reduced vigour and yield, subsequently affording intensity to the grapes. With good sunlight thanks to the vineyard’s easterly aspect, the grapes achieve full phenolic ripeness and character, whilst maintaining good levels of acidity, resulting in a bright, complex wine.
