Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Perrieres Blanc, Burgundy
An introduction to Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Perrieres Blanc, Burgundy
Les Perrières is a Premier Cru vineyard situated at the southern tip of Meursault, the prestigious appellation found in eastern France’s acclaimed Burgundy wine region. This vineyard, which is separated into several lieux-dits in typical Meursault fashion, is planted entirely to the region’s leading white grape, Chardonnay. Excellent soils and aspect nurture the fruit resulting in wines widely considered to be the finest Meursault has to offer. Chardonnay from Les Perrières has distinct floral tonality with yellow fruit and good minerality. The Domaine Louis Latour Meursault Perrières displays aromatic acacia and vanilla with grilled almonds in an ample, fruity body with fresh minerality. It is ideal for six to eight years of cellaring.

Understanding Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Perrieres Blanc, Burgundy
In line with the domaine’s ecological approach, old-vine Chardonnay in Perrières is tended through sustainable farming methods. The site’s more southerly orientation affords grapes long hours of sunlight, guaranteeing maximum ripeness. To preserve the quality of the fruit, a highly selective manual harvest ensures that only the finest berries are vinified. In the winery, traditional fermentation in oak is followed by complete malolactic fermentation for a creamy, soft mouthfeel. It is aged in 50% new, medium-toasted oak barrels from the Louis Latour in-house cooperage for eight to ten months to allow components to deepen for greater depth and complexity.
