Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Charmes, Burgundy
An introduction to Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Charmes, Burgundy
Les Charmes is a renowned Premier Cru vineyard in Meursault found in the Côte d'Or in eastern France’s Burgundy wine region. One of several top-tier climats located in this site, it neighbours the prestigious Genevrières and Perrières vineyards. It is planted entirely to the region’s signature white grape, Chardonnay, which thrives in the superior, well-drained stony marl and limestone soils of this spot. Wines from Les Charmes typically display opulent, nutty, honeyed notes with floral hints across a lively palate. The Domaine Louis Latour Meursault Les Charmes boasts lemon hints with honeyed brioche and fresh almond notes. The lingering finish has a wash of minerality. This Premier Cru is suitable for five to seven years of ageing.

Understanding Louis Latour, Meursault Premier Cru, Charmes, Burgundy
The domaine uses sustainable viticultural practices on its Chardonnay vines in Les Charmes. The vineyard is situated at the foot of the Côte d'Or escarpment and has a gentle incline that allows steady exposure to sunlight for gentle, balanced grape ripening. Fruit is carefully harvested by hand in a highly-selective process that ensures only the finest grapes are vinified. In the winery, this Premier Cru sees traditional fermentation in oak followed by complete malolactic fermentation for a creamy, soft mouthfeel. It is aged in 50% new, medium-toasted oak barrels from the Louis Latour in-house cooperage for eight to ten months, allowing it to deepen for greater depth and complexity.
