Understanding Domaine Michelot, Meursault Premier Cru, Genevrieres, Burgundy
Les Charmes vineyard is cultivated with sustainable methods that respect the land, preserve the ecosystem’s natural balance, and highlight the expression of its terroir. A winemaking philosophy focused on minimal intervention and natural yeast fermentation, allows the Chardonnay grapes to fully reveal their character. A cold soak of six to 12 hours before fermentation enhances the purity of the fruit, while 10 to 12 months of maturation in 15% new French oak barrels enriches the wine’s texture and depth without masking its natural mineral and fruit notes. The final stage involves around six months of blending and resting in tanks, allowing for a seamless integration of the wine’s elements. This Genevrières features a core of rich citrus, delicate florals, and nuanced minerality in a vibrant palate with refined acidity. This Premier Cru has excellent cellaring capacity.
