Understanding Domaine Michelot, Meursault Premier Cru, Charmes, Burgundy

The Les Charmes vineyard is cultivated using sustainable practices that honour the land, foster the ecosystem's natural harmony, and enhance the terroir's expression. This philosophy, paired with a winemaking approach centred on minimal intervention and natural yeast fermentation, allows the Chardonnay grapes' true character to emerge. A six-to-12-hour cold soak before fermentation draws out the pure fruit essence, while 10 to 12 months of ageing in 15% new French oak barrels adds texture and depth, without overpowering the wine's inherent mineral and fruit qualities. The process is completed with approximately six months of blending and resting in tank, ensuring a smooth integration of the wine’s components. This Les Charmes displays fresh citrus, white floral undertones and a hint of salinity, all underpinned by a refined minerality in a harmonious palate with lively acidity. This Premier Cru boasts excellent ageing potential.
