An introduction to Dugat-Py, Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, Lavaut Saint-Jacques Vieilles Vignes, Burgundy
Lavaux-Saint-Jacques is a Premier Cru vineyard, located slightly west of the Gevrey-Chambertin village in the acclaimed Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy in eastern France. This 9.5-hectare climat is planted entirely with Pinot Noir and its wines are regarded as some of the finest Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Crus. Its location at the mouth of the small Combe de Lavaux valley affords the vineyard a southern aspect and exposure to westerly winds that both contribute to balanced grape ripening. Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertin Lavaux-St-Jacques displays notes of dried florals, cassis, plush dark cherry and has well-defined, peppery tannins. Medium-bodied with lush fruit, the wine has a spice and dense long finish. The domaine produces 500 to 700 bottles of this wine annually. This Burgundy is suitable for laying down for several years.
