Understanding Domaine Chevalier Pere et Fils, Corton Grand Cru, Le Rognet et Corton, Burgundy
Produced from sustainably farmed Pinot Noir grapes, the wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in oak barrels with 50% new wood. The wine is neither filtered nor fined before bottling. Its deep plum colour has a nose to match, with ample black fruit accompanied by broodier notes of forest floor and game. The mouthfeel is equally generous, with ripe tannins and a core of sappy fruit, all culminating in a powerful yurt clean finish. Burghound’s wine critic Allen Meadows has complimented its ‘excellent richness, volume and mid-palate concentration.’
