Understanding Bertrand Ambroise, Corton Grand Cru, Le Rognet et Corton, Burgundy
This bottling from Domaine Bertrand Ambroise is made from organically farmed Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is fermented and then aged in oak barrels for up to 22 months with 100% new oak, before being bottled without fining or filtration. Its brooding bouquet blends wood toast with cassis, plum, and gamey, earthy undertones. The palate is dense and muscular, yet plush and rich, with an impressive tension and a wonderfully extensive finish. The wine has been scored highly by major critics, with Allen Meadows of Burghound praising its ‘fine richness and a beguiling vibrancy.’
