Understanding Domaine Chevalier Pere et Fils, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Burgundy
Produced from sustainably-farmed Chardonnay grapes, the wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in oak barrels with 50% new wood. The wine is lightly filtered and fined before bottling. It has a citrusy bouquet, with just a light hint of oak amongst the orchard fruit, spice, and floral notes. The palate is broad but with a clear acid spice and abundant minerality to balance the body and dry extract. The wine’s finish is notably long. The wine has been scored highly by major critics, with Allen Meadows of Burghound praising its ‘fine intensity’ and ‘attractively long finish.’
