The Grand Cru Clos Saint Denis Tres Vielles Vignes is one of the crown jewels of the Domaine Ponsot portfolio. The wine is sourced from a 0.7 hectare plot of 118-year-old Pinot Noir vines - some of the oldest in Burgundy. Situated on the western outskirts of the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, the vineyard has an easterly aspect that benefits from plenty of sunshine and moderate breezes, yielding concentrated grapes of good phenolic ripeness and a perfumed aroma.

The concentration imparted by the centenarian vines is evident in the Clos Saint-Denis cuvée by Domaine Ponsot, with the wine revealing vibrant aromas of cherry and violets and a rich, voluminous mouthfeel. The organically farmed grapes are hand-picked and destemmed into neutral oak foudres prior to fermentation with indigenous yeast. Following fermentation, the wine is matured for sixteen months in old oak barrels, all over twenty years old. The terroir of the Clos Saint-Denis really comes at the forefront here; the wine shows classic typicity and will age gracefully for several decades.
