An introduction to Perrot Minot, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Vieilles Vignes, Burgundy
Like most vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Clos de Vougeot is planted entirely with Pinot Noir. Clos de Vougeot also has the distinction of being the largest of all the Grand Crus sites in the Côte de Nuits. As a result, there is a vast myriad of soil types and aspects, with those on the higher limestone slopes benefitting from the best terroir. The Perrot-Minot Clos Vougeot comes from a very small plot of low yielding 60-year-old vines, producing as little as 600 bottles per vintage. Dense and austere when young, these wines will reward extended cellaring to realise their full potential. The 2012 has been the last vintage of this wine produced to date.

Understanding Perrot Minot, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Vieilles Vignes, Burgundy
Harvested entirely by hand to ensure the removal of all under-ripe grapes, a proportion of whole bunch fruit was used in the fermentation, with gentle pump-overs. Using only free-run juice, with an élevage of up to 18 months in barrel, the aim is to accentuate the finesse and elegance of the wine without masking the purity of fruit, which is achieved by the sensitive use of new oak.
