Understanding Domaine Forey Pere & Fils, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Burgundy
Domaine Forey Père et Fils tends Pinot Noir vines growing on favourable southeast-facing slopes in clay-limestone soils. Biodiversity is promoted throughout these vineyards, with the use of manmade chemicals kept to a minimum. All fruit is hand-harvested for a tailored selection of the best grapes and to protect them from damaging oxidation prior to vinification. Following cold-soaking and fermentation, this Grand Cru wine sees maturation in 228-litre barriques for increased oak-to-wine contact. The percentage of new oak varies from vintage to vintage. Burghound has described this Clos de Vougeot as ‘a big and powerful wine that is impeccably well balanced’.
