La Romanée is a Premier Cru vineyard within the Chassagne-Montrachet commune at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune. Situated at the top of the steep slope above the village of Chassagne, La Romanée is considered one of the best sites in Chassagne, with the most limestone-dominated soils of all the Premier Crus. Dancer's vines were planted in 1994 and 1980, from which he produces superb Chardonnay that balances richness with precision and tension. These expressive wines are approachable early but will age beautifully over the next 10+ years.

The sustainably farmed, hand-harvested fruit from organic vineyards is vinified with a non-interventionist approach. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts without bâtonnage to preserve freshness. No sulfur is added. After an extended élevage of 17 months in oak (50% new) the wine is blended and transferred to stainless steel tanks for a further five to six months to settle before bottling unfined and unfiltered. Each cuvée truly reflects its terroir thanks to this non-interventionist winemaking approach. The richest, most full-bodied of all Dancer’s Chassagne wines, the La Romanée balances fruit and floral notes with notable fresh minerality. According to The Wine Advocate’s William Kelley, ‘La Romanée is one of the greatest sites in Chassagne and Vincent Dancer's rendition is routinely among the best’.
