The Morgeot Premier Cru climat extends across 57.87 hectares, and comprises 21 plots, which can be labeled under the name of the specific plot or under Morgeot. Domaine Blain-Gagnard’s wine is produced from two plots called Les Boirettes (75%) and Champs Jeandreau (25%), which contain parcels of 8-, 10- and 40-year-old vines planted over 0.81 hectares. The soils consist of red clay without any stones, which creates wines with dense layers of fruit, and an overall richness and volume.

Understanding Jean-Marc Blain-Gagnard, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Morgeot Blanc, Burgundy
Produced from sustainably farmed Chardonnay grapes, this wine is fermented and aged for eleven months in oak barrels with up to 30% new Allier oak, with weekly battonage for the first few months, which may last longer in some vintages. The wine’s aromatic profile blends peach and yellow apple with oaky notes of vanilla and toast. It is richly textured and weighty, with a sappy core of ripe fruit, and pleasing hints of ginger and spice, all balanced by an abundantly vibrant acidity. The wine critic Jasper Morris has praised its ‘excellent depth of flavour.’
