Les Vergers is a Premier Cru vineyard in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy, associated almost exclusively with white wines from Chardonnay. The parcel ‘Les Vergers’ is located near Saint-Aubin, and in the past, it was planted with fruit trees. The vines are situated on a very stony hillside with an easterly exposure, allowing them to fully ripen before being harvested. The soils are clay-limestone and the vines have limited vigour, which results in greater intensity and concentration of the berries. Bruno Colins also implements sustainable winemaking practices.

Understanding Bruno Colin, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Vergers, Burgundy
Domaine Bruno Colin Les Vergers is produced from Chardonnay vines planted in 1974 and 1986. The manual harvest is followed by selective sorting in the vineyards, pneumatic pressing and settling, before fermentation on fine lees in oak barrels with 20 to 25% new oak. The wine matures in oak for 12 months before racking and blending in stainless steel vats for 3 to 6 months. The result is a lively and precise wine, with aromas of almonds, hazelnuts and fresh fruit. Well-balanced, this wine can be enjoyed in its youth, but has a long ageing potential.
