Bruno Colin, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, En Remilly, Burgundy
An introduction to Bruno Colin, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, En Remilly, Burgundy
En Remilly is a small Premier Cru in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation in Burgundy. Located north of the Chassagne-Montrachet village, this vineyard is planted with Chardonnay. The vines cultivated by Domaine Bruno Colin in this parcel were planted in 1960 and 1989. Situated on the hillside just above Chevalier-Montrachet, En Remilly connects the three communes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. Only a single corner of the parcel is located in Chassagne-Montrachet, with the greater part of the En Remilly vineyard falling within the limits of the neighbouring Saint-Aubin. Wine made from these sections is labelled as Saint-Aubin En Remilly Premier Cru, with the difference in quality, prestige and price between the Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin names leading to a stricter enforcement of the boundary, with wines of Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly commanding higher market prices.

Understanding Bruno Colin, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, En Remilly, Burgundy
A 100% Chardonnay, Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly is made from vines planted in 1960 and 1989. The domaine practices sustainable cultivation methods, with a manual harvest followed by selective sorting in the vineyards, pneumatic pressing, settling, before fermentation on fine lees in oak barrels with 20 to 25% new oak. The wine is aged in oak for 12 months before being racked and mass blended in stainless steel vats for 3 to 6 months. The resulting wine is elegant, clean and precise with exceptional balance. A true reflection of its terroir with mineral notes and excellent ageing potential, the wine has received high critical praise by major wine critic publications such as Wine Spectator and JancisRobinson.com.
