Benjamin Leroux’s Baudines Premier Cru bottling comes from a 0.5-hectare plot of Chardonnay vines in the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Baudines, situated to the south of the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. The high elevation of the vineyard (over 300 metres) and accompanying high diurnal temperature range produces grapes with high acidity and vibrant, temperate fruit notes. These characteristics are prominent in this cuvée by Benjamin Leroux, with the wine showing exciting length and elegance on the palate.

Understanding Benjamin Leroux, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Baudines Blanc, Burgundy
The grapes for Benjamin Leroux’s Les Baudines cuvée are sourced from old vines planted in the 1980s on thin, limestone marl soils at high elevation. After manual harvest, whole bunches are fermented with native years in mostly neutral French oak barrels (a 20% portion is new). After a year of élevage, the wine is bottled with minimal sulphur dioxide and non-sterile filtration. The result is a fine, cerebral wine with lively acidity that will support the wine through several years of careful cellaring.
